Loadout Description[]
An AK-74 with the works; a GP-30 grenade launcher, a Holosight and hollow-point rounds. Its accuracy is good, especially with the sight, and it has a 30-round magazine.
- Can use caseless 40mm grenades
ALT-FIRE: Toggle Sight
Gameplay[]
This weapon is an assault rifle. It is the most accurate of Rusty's slot 4 guns and it has intermediate accuracy penalty upon shooting. It has a decent rate of fire and it has the usual 30 round magazine. It has good power, as it can kill an Enforcer in only 4 shots. It fires hollow point bullets, therefore it is effective against soft or chitin targets, but will deal very poor damage to enemies in body armour, so you'll have to rely on head shots. And it cannot pierce heavy armour or supernatural protection.
With Alt-fire, you will use its attached holographic sight, which gives you a small zoom and a slight accuracy boost. Very good for distant targets since the rate of fire is very easy to control.
AK-74 is also equipped with a GP-30 underslung grenade launcher, which allows you to utilise all the 40mm caseless grenades and shells. This gives the weapon a fair share of potential versatility and it is useful against stronger enemies or those you can't harm normally.
Compared to Rusty's other slot 4 weapons, this one is potentially the most versatile thanks to its grenade launcher. It is also the most accurate, and thus the most capable against distant targets, and it is the second most powerful which helps against strong non-protected or chitin enemies. Rusty reloads pretty quickly so you can exploit its power against crowds fairly easily but the M41C or upgraded FG-42 will remain the better choices. However, since this weapon cannot pierce armour, you will have to either rely on AP Slugs and/or Electric Shells with the GP-30, or use a different weapon.
You will gain 30 shots per pick-up and you can hold up to 300 in total.
Location[]
The AK-74 can be bought from the Shopkeeper if you rescued Matvei in Highwire's mission of Episode 1, The Revolution. It will cost 30 base budget.
Upgrades[]
There are no upgrades for the AK-74.
Trivia[]
- Before version 3.5's art redux, this weapon was equipped with a bayonet. It behaved just like the FG-42's steel bayonet. It was removed for balance reasons and in order to make the FG-42's bayonet more dedicated, unique.
- Before version 3.5, this weapon fired normal bullets and could pierce body armour. It was changed to hollow point in order to make it more distinct from the other two weapons. It also gives one more reason to potentially use the FG-42.
