The Allied Military Complex, or AMC or AMC Squad, is a paramilitary organization made to handle extraordinary threats to Earth and its people. The AMC is an offshoot of the EDF, founded by one of its highly classified higher ups, named Alejandro. The AMC functions as a more proactive defensive than the EDF; while the EDF responds to threats as they emerge, the AMC is intended to preempt and prevent threats.
Overview[]
The AMC consists of two parts; the AMC Squad, who make up the primary field agents, and the AMC base itself, which comprises a specialized facility and support personnel. While non-squad members can deploy on missions, they usually serve a supportive role, taking orders and instructions from field agents where needed.
The AMC Squad comprises of Earth's finest, and perform the field missions set out. They function in a fashion similar to the great hero Duke Nukem, tackling problems head-on and improvising along the way. Unlike Duke, they don't shy away from packing gear on the go, or gathering research, evidence, weapons and technology for future use.
The AMC base is equipped with the latest technology, designed to rapidly research, prototype and deploy technologies where needed. In addition, it has some of the best transports available, allowing AMC agents to deploy anywhere in the solar system in record time. In addition, the base is well stocked with amenities, quarters for the AMC Squad members, support personnel (including guards, researchers, etc.) and even providing defensive structures such as turrets. The base itself is also equipped with a sophisticated AI, Epsilon.
History[]
The AMC was founded in response to the growing threats of unearthly foes, such as aliens, cultists and even interdimensional creatures. While this technically falls to the EDF and the EAF, some felt they were too large to respond fast enough, and lacked the high power precision those situations may require. This philosophy was inspired after the heroic deeds of Duke Nukem, the incredible feats of James Stanfield and potentially the victories of Zaxtor Znort.
Thus, an individual of great secrecy founded the AMC, and its first member was James Stanfield. James' first mission was to assemble individuals he felt would help round out the team. This initial group of 8 grew over time as it became apparent that the threats they faced were far more than initially expected.
At first, the AMC operated quite effectively. Still finding its footing, the team realized it wasn't able to prevent numerous casualties. Megabase, Dis Base, Millhaven and Providence missions were technically successful, yet failed to prevent the loss of life. In addition, hostile forces were in advances stages of progress, forcing the AMC to use extreme means to avoid catastrophe.
AMC Squad continued to to carry out special operations. They were successful at stopping the Cycloids' raid on Los Angeles, the Shadow Realm and Triad's efforts, and some cultits operations. But, despite their best efforts, the Arsia Mons incident was a disaster. James, Micky Crisp, Sang and Mikko almost paid with their lives, only saved by what appeared to be divine intervention.
AMC Squad raided the X64-2 planet with the EAF and captured a certain substance from the Cycloids. Later, after defeating Le Sang, the AMC base came under heavy attack. The situation rapidly deteriorated, until James was forced to blow the whole place to protect the world from this substance. This utterly ruined morale. Besides the loss of the base, many soldiers lost their lives, as well as many noncombatant personnel. While the AMC was already more reactionary than intended, they had now failed to defend their own homebase. After regrouping at Highwire's vacation home, AMC decided to split up and stay low for a while.
During a dream of sorts, James visits Axon, a man from another timeline's future. He explains how the AMC survived their encounters on Arsia Mons, namely through intervention of a timetravelling Cassandra. He also reveals the threat of the Beyonders, and that the AMC must find something called the Mandala.
Meanwhile, Micky Crisp set out to call in every favor he had. Within record time, a brand new base was constructed. The new base was located in a more defensible location, equipped with better defenses, and far more spacious accommodations. The old base could barely fit two transports, the new could fit an entire space ship or three. In addition, the AMC began to score a few key victories, and found out the location of Elysion. After Snowfall explained his origins, a second wind had reinvigorated the AMC Squad.
