The main Hub level of Episode 1 and Episode 2, from which all other levels can be selected.

Notable Places and People[]

  • Each character has their own starting area in this hub. The areas which Zaxtor, Geoffrey and Sang start in cannot be accessed from the main base.
  • In the lobby you can talk to the receptionist, who will give you the option to take the Tutorial.
  • Inside James', Highwire's and Mikko's rooms (as well as inside Micky's lab closet in Episode 2) are telephones which can be used to talk to allied characters about recent events in the story. The dialogues on these phones changes as you progress throughout the episodes, and different player characters have different people to talk to.
  • James' room houses a computer that provides some backstory on the player characters, their allies and select locations. It also allows you to change the display background and it displays stats and achievements (Note: the latter apparently has been disabled for version 3.0)
  • There are some books and other documents scattered about the base that can be read. These do not count as evidence, and merely provide some lore for the universe.
  • Inside the base itself are the following important locations:
    • Mission Command: Houses the Command Interface from which levels are selected.
    • Research and Development: Houses the terminal where research projects collected in the field can be selected and researched. Each project requires a certain Tech Level and has a certain cost in order to be activated. Some also require the base to be expanded.
    • Armoury and Equipment: Here you can upgrade each character's default weapons, select the equipment with which each character will start with (including artifacts, temporary weapons, weapon replacements, special ammo, melee weapons and other gear), as well as try out the temporary weapons that have been found so far in the shooting range.
    • Briefing Room: The hall houses the computer that displays the current evidence collected, and allows you to change characters. In order to do so, simply enter the briefing room itself, and you will be prompted back to the character select screen.

    Additionally, outside the base to the west, there is a small cave located across a pond, behind a waterfall. This cave houses the Arms Dealer (as well as Matvei if you rescued him during The Revolution), from which you can buy special weapon replacements for each character.
  • As you progress in the story, you can unlock additional parts of the base (for instance: the Dojo) that allow you to research different types of research projects collected in the field.
  • Dotted throughout the base are also a number of unnamed NPCs that can be talked to, such as soldiers and scientists.

  1. GDF Plasma Gun: In James' room, lying on his desk right when you start. Impossible to miss
  2. MIA Gun: Inside the Research & Development section, conventiently placed on a desk there.

Other Items of Interest:[]

  • Not quite collectible in the traditional sense, but by scanning the MDF poster present outside the restaurant area (which curiously houses only a Dukeburger) you unlock the MDF Plasma Gun for purchase, which is an alternate weapon for Mikko.
  • Note: This poster appears in other maps as well, such as New L.A. Scanning it once is enough to unlock it.
