Overview[]
You may come across situations where AMC Soldiers or other personnel are under your command. Press Use key to tell them to follow you, and press Use key again to make them stop. You can command allies from afar using the voice menu; you can tell them to follow you, wait or hold fire if needed, opening the gameplay to a more tactical approach. Allies also have voiced lines, which they use when they kill an enemy, or being ordered to follow the player or hold position.
If hurt, allies can regen health while standing still; use the menu to tell them to hold position if they need to heal. You can also find ally-specific health kits in the field as well.
Ally variants[]
Regular allies[]
Rebels
Sang's friendly Sorcerers
Town Guard
AMC-209
- AMC Troopers - armed with P90 submachineguns. The most basic allies, weak at first, but unlike all others, they can be upgraded with the AMC Troop research projects. Also, Highwire can summon them with his Support Radio.
- EDF Soldiers - armed with M16 assault rifles (blue uniform) or M60 machineguns (dark blue). Have more health than the AMC Troopers.
- EAF Soldiers - mostly similar to EDF soldiers, except for appearance.
- MS-Corp Sardaukars - armed with MS-Corp assault rifles. Have even more health than the EDF Soldiers. Mostly appear in Mikko's missions.
- Russian Rebels - armed with AK-103 assault rifles. Aside from that, they are pretty similar to the AMC Troopers. Appear in the Revolution mission, and Highwire's Support Radio summons them in that mission. There are two variants of the rebels (distinguished by the color of their jackets - green or beige), but they are identical.
- Security Guards - armed with pistols.
- Friendly Sorcerers - can throw magical projectiles and teleport. Have supernatural protection. Sang can summon them with the alternate spell of his Spellbook.
- Ripper Heart Clone - a ghostly copy of the player character, armed with the standard slot 4 weapon (or, in Merlijn case, with the Blunderbuss). Can be summoned by using the Ripper Heart.
- Town Guards - armed with warhammers. They can often be found protecting towns on Elysion. In the Anchora mission, some guards are involved in a conspiracy and are not friendly.
- Dark Elves - armed with magic crossbows. Can be found on Elysion, too.
- EDF Super Soldiers - armed with rapid-firing laser rifles and railguns. Equipped with power armour that gives them great resilience and even has a built-in energy shield. Appear in EDF Panama and Naaldir's Keep missions.
- AMC-209 - a sentry bot built from the Engineer technology. Really strong, heavily armoured and armed with the Engineer weapon that can fire crystal shards and the plasma cannon.
Unique allies[]
- Vladmir Lebedev - Highwire's comrade. Armed with the AK-103. His weapon is more powerful and has a higher magazine capacity than the standard rebels; his health is also much higher. Appears in the Revolution mission.
- Jane Ashford - an elite EDF agent. Armed with the Handlaser. Appears in the Caligula Station mission as a player character, but doesn't appear in normal gameplay as an ally... yet.
- Bombshell - an elite EDF agent. Armed with the M4 assault rifle. Appears in the Shellshocked mission as a player character, and in the Naaldir's Keep mission as an ally if you finish the Serpent Canyon mission.
- Minerva Armitage - a powerful sorceress. Unarmed, but can cast a light spell and conjure a protective aura similar to the one that can be conjured with the Nemesis Staff. Can also heal player and teleport. Appears in the Darrow Lake, Cave Diving in the Sky and Naaldir's Keep missions.
- Huey - a dog that was found on Elysion. Armed with... its teeth. Appears in the Picbornear Reservoir mission.
Trivia[]
- Most characters can command 3 allies at a time by default, Highwire can command as many as 4. You can command more by researching Upgraded Squad Command and/or equipping the Sword of Pelinal artifact.
- You can sometimes encounter stationary allies that can fight enemies and on rare occasions may provide dialogue but will not follow you.
- Before version 3 there used to be another unique ally that appeared in the Providence and Orbital Elevator missions. This character was however cut for personal reasons.
- Sometimes you have to lead a certain ally to a certain location. If you come there without him, a message like "I can't move on without my buddy %allyname% " will appear. This is a reference to the game Daikatana.
