Assault Commander (sometimes called the Fat Commander) is a large, fat, beastly alien creature, vile and brutish. This Cycloid enemy fires rockets from what appears to be its rectum. It's deadly and tough foe and it can take more punishment than other Cycloid assault troops, but it is not as agile. Assault Commander sits on a round spiked floating anti-grav platform that allows it to fly (albeit slowly) and can also damage the agents with spinning blades if they come into contact with it.
Using the MIA Gun on this creature unlocks the Drone Security Codes research project.
Variants[]
There are a few variants of the Commander.
- The first variant (spritepal 24) wear masks, and it's skin is also a bit more red too. It carries a Mini-Shrinker. It has twice the health and instead of rockets, it fires green plasma projectiles similar to those fired by Plasma Launcher. These projectiles deal much more damage than rockets, but their splash damage radius is smaller. Using the MIA Gun on this Plasma Commander unlocks the Cycloid Plasma Tech research project.
- There is also a Commander with blue skin (spritepal 20) that has more health and fires Laser RPG projectiles. Currently this variant can only be found in usermaps.
- In Zeta base, Assault Commanders ended up being zombified, and they look bloodied and rotten.
Bestiary Information[]
These oversee the Cycloid ground forces. As with most of their army, we cannot really tell what their original species was. Underneath they carry a small RPG.
MIA Description[]
We've discovered that the Commander is permanently attached to the hover unit, and that it serves as a life support as well as weapons unit. Quality of life was clearly a secondary concern.
