Background[]
Bruisers are muscular, bipedal, 8 foot tall minotaur-like demons that can either throw a singular fireballs in quick succession or blast out three at once. Their fireballs can do heavy damage on a successful hit, and also ignore conventional armour, so you would need a fire shield to protect yourself. When close, they prefer to savagely ripping their prey apart with their huge claws. They are very hardy and you'll need heavy weapons to dispatch them, as they can take a large amount of punishment before finally succumbing. Bruisers are fire creatures, so they are highly resistant to fire attacks but vulnerable to frost attacks. On death, the streams of flame will explode off of them, so you'd better stay out of its way! They can spawn via a sigil gate or in the depths of the Abyss.
Using the MIA Gun on a Bruiser will unlock the Abyssal Fire research project.
Variants[]
There is a miniboss variant, known as Balgaar (sprite palette 24). Balgaar is bigger and almost twice as tougher than normal Bruiser demons. However his attack pattern is still the same as a regular Bruiser. It can be encountered in Dis Base, in the Abyss, in the Ghost Ship, and in Saelmere Hold.
Bestiary Information[]
A giant slab of blazing meat, that can summon balls of flame seemingly out of nothing. Whilst nitrogen and freeze rays seem to hurt it more than most, it still has incredible strength. Take extreme care when fighting these beast, and remember to stop drop and roll if you're caught on fire.
MIA Description[]
An autopsy reveals that the insides of this creature defy all expectations. It seems that all the organs inside don't actually seem to perform any function. How this thing lives is a true mystery.
Trivia[]
This enemy is likely inspired by Baron of Hell from classic Doom. Its name is probably a reference to the "bruiser brothers", a pair of aforementioned barons that serve as the bosses of the Doom's first episode. Its looks, as well as the name of the boss variant originate from Doom 2016.
