Background[]

Member Bio[]

Agent Highwire, also head of the Europe [sic] division of the EDF, is one of the AMC Squad's more covert agents. Originating from a commanding position in a renegade USSR state, his experience gives him a preference for Soviet weaponry. Since helping James with the rogue Government Highwire has joined the AMC Squad and assists mostly in covert and strategic operations.

Highwire originally had no need to use weapons, due to his commanding position; however he began to train himself with James' assistance. After leaving the EDF for various political reasons Highwire went on to lead a rebellion personally, and smashed a strong fascist government with his hands. Best with other team mates, but when given the right weaponry is a deadly fighter.

Highwire's true nationality is unknown; although he claims that Russia is his homeland, it is not his place of birth.

Highwire provided Radio support to James throughout the Government takeover in Imagination World; then only computer support throughout the Majestic 12 incident. During this time Highwire went under the alias 'Rob', and did not have his characterisic Russian drawl. It is unknown why Highwire was hiding his true voice during this time.

Combat Analysis[]

Highwire's arsenal is well suited for mundane adversaries. Quite a few of his guns are even able to handle body armor, and his pistol can penetrate even full armor. One can't forget his Shotgun, which accepts alternative ammo types, granting another layer of battlefield flexibility. As a result, he is exceptionally well suited for handling human and alien forces, as well as their fancy armored toys. His weapons are also quite fast, accurate, or powerful. If you need to make a dent, Highwire will blast you a hole.

In addition, Highwire can benefit from his Support Radio to call in AMC reinforcements. At times, the environment may allow him to call in additional help too. Remember that upgrading AMC personnel helps him greatly; outfitting AMC soldiers with laser SMGs and better armor gives Highwire's Support Radio incredible power.

Secondly, Highwire's Vodka provides him with an additional layer of healing. It also provides stronger melee options, allowing him to converse ammo. It compounds his already high degree of accuracy, providing another vector for ammo conservation.

Highware has two major flaws that somewhat limit his utility to the AMC. Nothing a little effort can't overcome, but they are too be kept in mind at all times before mission deployment. Highwire is more at home in slow, defensive or otherwise less mobile missions, and should be kept away from situations involving supernatural enemies.

First, Highwire has no default weapons that can tackle the Supernatural. All of his default weapons inflict some form of physical damage, rendering him helpless against the supernatural. Other than his Gold weapons, which have very high requirements to unlock, even his alt weapons fail to handle Supernatural threats.

Secondly, all of his weapons, sans pistol and grenades, are Heavy. Combined with his lower stamina regeneration, renders him slow and less mobile than others. While Zaxtor has similar weight concerns, Zaxtor could fall back on his powerful endurance and Hologram. Highwire is better suited to use his accuracy and clear a way, before leisurely strolling ahead.

Trivia[]

  • Despite the fact the Character Select menu refers to him as a "Russian Commander" and his flag is Russian, the Member Bio on James' computer claims his nationality is "unknown"
  • In the 10 year anniversary edition, Highwire's outfit was updated to a heavy armored military fatigue. In version 3.5 his default uniform can still be seen in the Revolution mission.
  • Despite being called one of the 'more covert' agents, none of Highwire's weapons are silenced or all that subtle.
