Island Facility is a mandatory third story mission in Episode 2 and continues immediately after Fishing Wharf.
Mission Summary[]
Based on the information you located in the fishing district, this must be the main base of the Triad and Yakuza operation. You know what to do... But be on the lookout for information on where they're finding them Shadow Realm creatures. That may be our next destination.
Gameplay[]
Head through the gate and then to the left into the building. Hit the switch behind the desk with cabinets to unlock the backroom. Go outside and use the elevator to a higher level. Climb the watchtower to find a blue keycard. Head back the backroom and open the blue door. Go outside, then up the ladder, and right.
Drive the Hoverboat straight down to the water and head right into a dock. There's a powersuit midboss here. After defeating it, head up the elevator and get in the tank. Take out all the opposition, including enemy tanks, drive to the next hangar and get off. When you reach a locker room, take the left elevator and open the door immediately in front. Hit the switch and then backtrack to the tank and cross the raised bridge. Destroy the powersuits with the cannon of your tank and continue going right.
Open the large door. Hit the switch in the control room near the windows. This opens a door near the red truck. Go all the way down to a control room and hit the switch to unlock the reactor room. Grab the green keycard at the center. Head back up but then take a right at the "exit" sign to outside. Blow up the red barrels to reveal a hallway you have been to earlier. Open the green door. Get through the dangerous conveyor belts.
At the end, go across the scaffolding to the Yakuza boss. Head to the door on the right and outside to an interesting shaped building. There are several Mamanos and a C4 back on the left side on the tree stump. Use it to blow up the front door. However, right when you step in IMMEDIATELY get out as it's a trap. After the building explodes, jump down the hole in the middle. Time for a boss fight with the Zilla Powersuit. And then another one. After that, the glass will crack and flood the area. Get out the water through the smaller door near the first boss and examine the map. Then leave the way you came.
Secrets[]
There are 3 secrets in Island Factory
- Above the Ripper pen there is a row of lamps, by jumping on them from the upper walkway you can access the roof for some grenades.
- After the tank section, blow up one of the crates in the back to access a room under it and get a key and other goodies. With the key the locked door in the office by the middle of the tank section is openable for a megasphere.
- After the tank section, go through the red "Exit" door, and follow the pipes to the end. Climb on top of the yellow structure, then onto the nearby brick wall. On that roof is a Zilla Missile Launcher and some DUP missiles. You can also reach this area immediately after getting the blue key for secret #2.
- (Unmarked) After taking one of the elevator in the locker room, in the hallway near the Guardian, there's a hidden crack that when blown up, will lead back to the entrance of the buidling.
Weapons & Arfifacts[]
KSG-12 (Weapon, James): located in the Wasp Drone workshop in a blocked off blue curtain area around the conveyor belt.
Other Items of interest[]
- If you bring a combat shovel, dig near the lone pink tree for an H-item.
- Playing as James, there's a time portal in the reactor. You can find a super armour inside.
- Shortly after you get the Hovercraft, you can duck underwater inside the dock with the first heavy power suit and swim through an alcove with some DUP missiles and a VR Terminal you can hack with Geoffrey or Mikko that will activate the two mini turrets next to the powersuit.
Trivia[]
- If you destroyed the two Heavy Powersuits in the secret Offshore Oil-rig level, you will face less of them in this mission.
- In older versions of the game, 2 palette-swapped Giant Robosuits served as the bosses of this level.
