Background[]
Repulsive and feeble as they are dogged and numerous, the Lizard Trooper (also known as Assault Trooper) represents the vanguard of the Cycloid invasion.
In any situation where the aliens are on the attack, these creatures are likely the first threat a defender of the Earth will face. They wear vests and are armed with the laser blasters. Their projectiles can be dodged and their bodies crumple under mild duress. Lizard Troopers also possess jetpacks, and can use it to fly closer to the player or to gain the high ground. Finally, they can "play dead", allowing it to make a surprise attack later.
They make excellent test subjects for newly acquired weapons.
Using the MIA Gun on the Lizard Troopers will unlock the Cycloid Jetpack Controls research project.
Variants[]
There are many palette-swapped variants of the Lizard Troopers:
- Green (spritepal 22) – the weakest, but the most numerous variant; their health is very low.
- Red/Gray (spritepal 21/12) – higher health, can teleport.
- Blue (spritepal 3) – can self-destuct.
- Dark Blue (spritepal 16) – armed with pistols, occasionally drop slot 2 ammo upon being killed.
- Yellow (spritepal 23) – higher health, armed with very damaging freezeguns.
- Dark Red (spritepal 10) – much higher health, and their blasters are much more damaging.
- Purple (spritepal 49) – higher health, can spawn Sentry Drones, armed with plasma pistols.
- Orange (spritepal 35) – higher health, armed with fireball launchers that does fire damage.
- Gray with Blue Skin (spritepal 20) – less health, armed with shock pistols.
- Space – only found in zero gravity. Armed with laser blasters like the normal Lizard Troopers. Appear in Charon.
- Camouflage – Lizard Troopers with green camouflage. Behaves exactly like a normal Lizard Troopers. Appear in Repent and Jungle Base.
- Zombie – a zombified Lizard Troopers. Behaves exactly like a normal Lizard Troopers. Appear in Zeta base.

Bestiary Information[]
Liztroops are the footsoldiers of the Cycloid army. Evidently cloned from a small stock of the original species; it's not known if they are willing members of the Cycloid empire or just a subjugated race. There are a variety of ranks to the Liztroop forces, but only an incredible rare few managed to climb any higher.
MIA Description[]
Liztroops who perform exceptionally are utilised as cloning stock; it is highly likely that the EDF has been battling just a mere handful of individuals this entire time.
