Viewing the PDU
Personal Data Unit (PDU), also sometimes referred to as Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), is every agent's standard-issue handheld mobile device resembling a tablet computer. The PDU in the game has several functions. Its interface features the following tabs:
- Mission - contains basic details about the mission, and updates itself on mission objectives.
- Items - shows your inventory items, like first-aid kit, speed items or jetpack, that you have in your inventory.
- Keys - shows key items, like keycards or old keys, that you have in your inventory.
- Special - shows alternate ammunition for some weapons that you have in your inventory.
- Stats - shows your current health, max health, as well as your physical, fire and spirit armour.
- Scan - allows you to scan the surroundings. Scanning certain objects, like old corpses, cracks in the walls or switches, not only gives you information but also rewards you with polymers for weapon upgrades. Scanner can also tell you what buttons to press in combination locks.
- In 4.5 Interim release, scanner has received updates. Now, when using the scanner, you can shoot a harmless laser beam with Primary Fire key, this can be used to activate distant switches. Also, airdrops and airstrikes can now be dynamically ordered whilst outside in any mission within range of an airfield, at a 30 supply cost. To toggle between these functions, press Alt Fire key when using the scanner.
- Abort - allows you to abort the current mission and return to the AMC Base (for example, if you faced a heavy armoured or supernatural enemy and did not take a weapon with you that could harm it. Or if you encountered a game-breaking bug).
Trivia[]
- All AMC agents' PDU interface feature a spinning AMC logo as a background image. However, in some cases PDUs show other background images - Bombshell's and Jane's ones show the EDF logo (as well as James' and Highwire's PDUs in the Revolution mission), Cultist's PDU shows the Elder Sign, Snowfall's PDU in the Triton Facility mission shows the Poseidon Industries logo, and Micky's one in the Micky Begins mission shows the logo of the Adelaide University.
- PDU first appeared in the Imagination World TC Episode 4: Time After Time.
- The new features for the scanner were originally planned to be implemented in version 5. However, they were implemented in version 4.5.
