Pipedream is an optional story mission in Episode 3 starring The Cultist. If you have researched the Paranormal Research Room research project, it will unlock after completing Chaosphere.

Mission Summary[]

You are a homeless cultist in the in the city of Winnipeg. One day, you find your way into the sewers by accident after a drain cover blows off. Eventually, you end up fighting an alien threat the civilian population of the city is unaware of.

Note: This is an optional mission, and is not required for completing the episode. Beating this level will unlock the Cultist as a selectable character.

Gameplay[]

Pipedream (1)

You are a cultist. Walk around and eventually the sewer grate will explode, leaving a hole. Drop down and follow the path. Turn left, pick up the revolver, fight through the slimes and lizard troopers, and then go left again. Pick up the sawn-off, use it to take out a nosy pig cop, then use your scanner to help you open the combination lock. Come into the control room and get the toolbox from one of the lockers. Note: You can use the toolbox for different doors leading to completely different paths.

Instead of using the toolbox to the door close by, use it on the door earlier. Inside is another toolbox, tommy gun and ammo. Now use this toolbox on the other door. As soon as you open the door, you'll be ambushed from behind.

Pipedream (2)

Proceed to the area with big overhead doors. Enter the control room, kill a lizard engineer, pick up some goodies (including a teslagun) and hit the switch. Take out octabrains and slimers, then head to a cracked open tank and swim under (Secret #6 maybe helpful for a scuba gear). Surface to another station. Go up to the control panel to collect a lot of stuff (including M60 and a brick of C4). Use it on the door nearby across the stream. Head downstream through the sewers to the big green locked alien door.

When you deal with the all the adversaries here, go right down the corridor. Take out alien bastards (including fat commanders) and step into the big room to find a rotary gun, some supplies and a blue rune key on the circular platform with a dead EDF soldier. A massive swarm of aliens will blow up the walls and attack you. After the fight, look around one of the cracks for a slime pod babe, the yellow rune key will be next to her. Find a vent to get your way back and use both keys to open the green alien door. Kill the cycloids here and pick up the supplies. When you leave this room through the next door, it will collapse. Get into the huge storm drain tunnel and fight the Swinelord.

Secrets[]

  1. At very first sewer intersection after you entered the sewers, try to jump to the upper drainage from your current one for a First-aid kit.
  2. Where the first Cycloid trooper is encountered, jump on the crate and then to the sewer window for health.
  3. After you found the toolbox in the room with the lockers, go back to the beginning of the sewer to the first broken switch and use it there. In the opened passage another toolbox can be found, and Thompson as well. 
    Path A (use the toolbox on the switch with barred window beside it):
  4. Before the vats and octos, there is a shootable switch by the 4 red dots on the ceiling. This switch will open the small room with the Riotgun-Minigun in the crate.
  5. On the left side of the tanks and octabrains area there is a breakable grate vent beside the one with the fan. Use the barrel to get there.
  6. Past the cracked open tank is another room. Open the shutter to the left of "Please conserve water" sign. Also, don't jump down the hole yet. There's a scuba gear in the control room nearby that should prove useful, but it's pretty heavily guarded.
    Path B (use the toolbox on the switch where one zombie is):
  7. After dropping down the sewers again look for a passage behind a waterfall.

  8. After the pit full of eggs and octos, look in the curved hallway for a breakable cover, a shootable switch that unlocks the door is behind it. Another toolbox and the Cultist Chibi are both found here, and also a shortcut to initial split (the path to this secret can be reached from Path A once you get to the UFO entrance, with well-executed jump into the upper sewage drain). 
    After paths rejoin:
  9. After the heavy ambush, when you crawl through the vents, before dropping down the ceiling pay attention to a breakable vent wall.
  10. After dropping down the ceiling after getting the yellow and blue rune keys, head to the room next to the "Keep clear" sign. Here you can find super armour, some ammo and a backtrack.
  11. In the storm drain tunnel with the pigcop chieftain, on the right side there is an openable door.

Trivia[]

  • This map was actually an enhanced version of the AMC TC user map from the days when Episode 2 came out.
  • Winnipeg, the capital city of Manitoba, Canada, where this mission takes place, is the city where the maps creator Snowfall was born.
  • On Path B, when you sabotage the electrical power to unlock the forcefield, the power building is labeled "Manitoba Hydro", which is the real world local electrical utility company in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
  • Also on Path B, when entering the dumpster bin labeled "BFI" there is some bloody text on the inside wall stating "THEY WILL" with an accompanying image of a Beyonder beside it, foreshadowing the plot of the game.
  • Destroying one specific trash bin out of bounds will spawn a Beyonder.
