Background[]
The Protector Drone (also known as the Alien Beast, the Newbeast or the Alien Drone) is an incredibly dangerous type of the Cycloid aliens. These creatures are very fast, capable of jumping, have sharp claws and teeth and high amount of health. Their main attack method is to quickly get close and tear you apart it with its claws (body armour will not protect you from this attack). But probably the most remarkable about them is that they can shoot projectiles that can shrink organic matter, similar to effect of Zaxtor Shrinker or Mini-Shrinker. You can partially protect yourself from this attack with the Shrinking Ring artifact. Protector Drones themselves cannot be shrunk. Their blood is green and highly toxic, so standing on the corpse of the Protector Drone will cause damage. Cycloids seem to use this beasts as some sort of bio-weapon. The Protector Drones have chitin protection. They can resist armour-piercing and electric attacks. Normal attacks can damage them, and they are weak to fire type attacks. Using MIA Gun on the Protector Drone will give you Acid Protection research project.

A horrible alien creature. Whilst normally I tend to stay away from strictly extraterrestrial animals, the Protector Drone deserves a mention out of respect of the many Russians who lost their lives in the Protector Drone purges.
Nearly 7 feet tall, with an incredibly thick skin and strange energy blasts that can shrink organic matter. No matter what way you can look at it, the Protector Drone is a formidable predator. Their sole purpose is to protect the Queen of their hive.
The Queen is incredibly disturbing: it is wildly rumoured that a human lady was artificially impregnated by Cycloids to create one such monster. Famed EDF hero Duke Nukem slayed this monstrosity, but many more are rumoured to exist. One can only hope there are more brave fighters to spare people from this terrible fate.
Bestiary Information[]
These inhuman creatures are tough, covered in Chitin and can even fire a shrinkblast from the mouth. They seem to exist purely to protect Alien Queens. They don't seem to be able to reproduce or perform any higher function beyond killing.
MIA Description[]
Tests have shown these creatures are all female. Whatever species this used to be was clearly monogendered.

- This enemy is based on the Xenomorphs from the Alien movies.

- Protector drones can be a human-alien hybrids.
- As can be seen in the Megabase level, Protector Drones can survive in high radiation areas.
- In older versions of the game, there was a special Anti-Protector Drone ammunition for Highwire's Dragunov sniper rifle.
- In some levels, you can find palette-swapped Protector Drones (for example, blue or invisible). They are identical to normal Protector Drones however.
- There is a book named "Strange and mystical creatures" that can be found in the New L.A. hub level on the Moon. This book contain some lore about the Protector Drones and other creatures.
- There is a book named "Protector Drone purges", located in Highwire's room at the AMC Base. This book contain lore about the war with the Protector Drones in Russia.
- There is a boss variant of the Protector Drone - an Alien Queen.
