A grenade launcher; whilst slow to reload, the grenades deal a massive amount of damage.

ALT-FIRE: Stygian Blast

Overview

This weapon is a rotary grenade launcher. It boasts 6 grenades when fully loaded. Each grenade will fly in an arc trajectory and bounce 4 times before exploding, or explode immediately when impacting an enemy or some destructible object. They are fairly powerful as they can kill a Battlelord in 5 direct hits. The explosion has the default splash damage area. It has a good rate of fire of barely half a second but it has a lengthy reloading time of roughly 5 full seconds for all 6 grenades.

Like most explosive weapons, RG-6 cannot pierce heavy armour but deal regular damage to enemies with body armour or chitin protection. It cannot use any alternate grenade ammo though. Also, like all explosive weapons, it can blast open cracks in the walls.

Obviously a grenade launcher is a more practical alternative to a regular hand grenades. When you shoot, its grenades will fly fairly far while you would need to build up a throw with regular grenades. You can fire several grenades in front of you in order to create a small short-lived barrage against incoming enemies, or just shoot directly into crowds in order to decimate them thanks to its high power and average splash damage area. And the fact the grenades bounce can help you shoot from behind wall angles in order not to expose yourself. Its sheer power is decent against mini-bosses as well. However the main drawback of the weapon is its reloading time. You will empty the 6 slots fairly quickly and you will often make lengthy reloads. It is obviously not affected by the Shotgun Loading Belt.

Upgrades

There are two upgrades for the RG-6.

RG-6 Quickloader

This upgrade decreases the reload time of the RG-6 by making simultaneously insert two rounds at a time instead of every round individually. Costs 250 polymers.

RG-6 Stygian Rock

This upgrade allows RG-6 to fire armour-piercing explosive lava rocks, similar to those fired by the Stygian warcannon, using Orange Mana. Can be bought from a blacksmith on Elysion for 3 Magic Orbs.
