The Red Saga is an optional 5 map EDF Side Mission. It is unlocked after completing Episode 2.
Mission Summary[]
EDF received some disturbing records from this remote mountain region; it was considered that Cycloids involvement was possible but not likely. They have provided local transport. Your job was to head to the town and ask the locals about any possible alien activity.
And now you sit here. Unable to reach HQ, trapped inside the building, surrounded by Pigcops. Luckily you could barricade the door in time, but it wouldn't take long before they would find another way in. You grab your pistol. It won't be enough to stop all of them...
Gameplay[]
Part 1: Poisoned Lands
Crouch down to avoid fire from the enemies outside and hit the switch on the counter to your right. Head to the door and up the stairs to find the blue keycard. Use it back downstairs to open a secret hatch behind an empty shelf. Outside, head right and follow the road to find a building with a swamp and trees on the right side. Upstairs is the yellow key, use it on the shack nearby uphill, it has the red key inside. Follow the road back and downhill to a tunnel to use the red key, there's a crack on the wall that needs exploding. Leap through the cave to a swampy area. Climb on the rocks on the other side to go up to the broken bridge. Head to The Rock restaurant uphill. Inside, head downstairs to the bathroom, blow up the crack on the wall and jump down. In this new cave area, avoid the hole with green vines coming out as it will kill you. Eventually you'll find the blue keycard in a green room. Open the door near it. The floor will give out and drop you down. Head through the hole in the wall, you will be in a large dark room with a crystal. Head to the structure on the left and climb it. Go into the room with the eggs and jump into the pool. Head through a series of underwater caves and you will eventually be back on the surface. Follow the road to the tunnel. Use the blue key card here, take out assault commanders and octabrains, then head through the tunnel.
Part 2: Alien Occupation
Go straight and into the grocery store on the left, watch out for the Swinelords. Blow up the crack on the wall, go through the teleport and look for a switch. There's a monitor saying this switch unlocks the town hall. Go to the town hall on top of the hill. You'll need to hit 4 switches in each of the offices to unlock the mayor's office, one of them is inside a crack on the wall on the left side. Grab the blue keycard in the mayor's office, use it on the door across the office. Watch out of explosions, kill the Battlelord and get the red keycard. Head across town, to an entrance on the side of the hill to the mines with warning signs. Use the red key here. Head back out and into the mine tunnel. Note: This is the point of no return, so if you need to stock up, this will be your last chance to do so. Head down the mineshaft, but be prepared to run back to the elevator, as it will explode. Head through the new hole on the side. Inside, there's a 4 switch lock which opens the yellow keycard. Go back and use it on the elevator. In the next room, there's a hole in the wall with a small water stream, head down and you'll be in a larger cave with minecart tracks above. Head up and through the wall to another room with platforming and a broken minecart bridge. Work your way to the opening on the green wall and climb the ladder. When you see an opening and barracks, be prepared for a large ambush from behind. A dark opening on the left side with a hole in the ground will open up after a while.
Part 3: Cursed Nights
You will lose all your equipment. Also, this level features invisible aliens, so heat vision goggles will come in handy. Go left to find the C-4 and use it on the wall earlier. Follow the road to a green broken down hotel. Go upstairs and open the door. An explosion will happen, opening an adjacent door. Go up the stairs and hit the switch. Head back out and to the green alien structure seen on the monitor. Get the blue keycard, take out protector drones and open the gate at the church down the hill. Head up the ladder and drop inside, be prepared to fight a Battlelord. There's a small message on the wall at the altar to "push the different stone". Head down and go through the teleporter. The tunnel is now unlocked. Blow up the crack behind the map near a wall. Head down and through a corridor. Open the door that says "Authorized Personnel" and shoot the switch to start the generator. Open the panel behind you and shoot the 3 switches to turn the power on. Head back out and down the corridor, fight through the aliens, go into the security room and hit the switch. Head back outside, kill all the aliens. Head across to the gate on the left and hit the large switch to open the gates. There's another invisible Battlelord on the other side and Swinelords waiting for you. The exit is on the dock.
Part 4: Boat Trippin'
There's a door with a hole in it, toss an explosive in. Go up the stairs, one of the rooms on the north side will be opened with an explosion. A yellow keycard is on the bed, use it on the door south near the center. Head through and find an elevator to the "Steering Room". A man will be there on an elevator, but it will close on you. Shoot the switch on the left, this will unlock all doors on Deck 6. Hit the switches in the library, the restaurant's kitchen, the shop and the balcony. Hitting all four switches unlocks a new switch at the elevator. Use the elevator and head to the steering room, hit the switch on the side and get the blue keycard. Head back down to Deck 3, there's a Swinelord waiting for you. Use the keycard and work your way through the corridor. Eventually you will be blacked out for a few seconds and hear explosions, the ship will crash and capsize, and you'll lose all your weapons. Hop your way up and find a door, then swim through and follow the vents. The area after the rumble will require a long travel distance, expect a Battlelord to try and harass you.
Part 5: Lonely Mountain Complex
There are some supplies scattered about, including a slot 2 weapon on top of the capsized boat and a slot 3 weapon in a bunker hidden by greens. Go through the cave in the back left corner, this will lead into a small village with a Swinelord, a Battlelord and other enemies. There are more supplies around here to fight them. There's a scuba gear on top of the small hill where Swinelord stands on, which you will need. Swim under the grey pond, it's a long swim. Navigate into a submerged building (watch out for octabrains). Climb up a ladder and find a crack on the wall, climb the ladder and enter the elevator hatch. Head to supplies, push the button, take out protector drones and wait for the door to open. Use the elevators and scaffolding to go into each tunnel. One of them as a crack on the red wall, a blue keycard is inside. Deal with a Battlelord and use it on the door opposite of the supplies room. Take the train, but don't head left after exiting it, it's booby trapped with trip mines when you enter. There's a crack on the wall leading to a vent. Head into the white teleporter, it will remove the red panel, which will let you enter the security room. Shoot the panel on the wall and unlock the door. Keep note of the security access code or use the PDA, this will unlock the elevator. In the control panel room you'll hear choppers conversing, unlock the big skull door with a button combination and head down the bridge. Be careful, a Battlelord's waiting on the other side and you will be locked in this area. Use the alien switch on the left and go up the elevator in the middle. Go to the red door, get the red key outside and use it. Find the switch that says "Set Target" and set it to #3, then hit the fire pane and wait for an explosion. The monitor should show a Cycloid army being wiped out. Go through the hole in the wall and hit the exit button.
