This is Highwire's default slot 3 weapon, the Remington 870 shotgun.

A Remington 870 shotgun; powerful and also very accurate, it can also use many different types of ammo. It can hold 5+1 shells.

Gameplay

This weapon is a pump-action shotgun. It has a decent rate of fire for the type. You have to reload one shell at a time which can be problematic when facing several enemies, especially without the Shotgun Loading Belt. 5 or 6 shells can feel relatively short too so be ready to reload often. As the description says, it is accurate, and works quite well against distant targets, especially if you crouch and don't move. And the accuracy penalty can only be a problem if you're moving, if you stand still you will recover normal accuracy during the pumping animation.

While its default ammo is useless against armoured or supernatural opponents, it can use alternative ammo types, giving it some measure of versatility.

Remington 870 is a very balanced shotgun. Compared to other Highwire's slot 3 guns, its main advantages are the effective range which is quite high, its ability to use all kinds of alternate shells and its decent rate of fire for a pump-action. But its main drawback is the need to reload shell-by-shell and the relatively short 5+1 capacity which can be very problematic when facing groups of enemies.

Upgrades

There is one upgrade for the Remington 870.

R870 Extended Tube

This upgrade makes it so that you can load 7+1 shells instead of 5+1. You will be reloading for slightly longer, but less often. The weapon thus becomes more reliable against groups of enemies. Costs 250 polymers.
