Rusty's trusty revolver; it packs a mean punch and he can reload it exceptionally quick.

Overview[]

This weapon is a semi-auto top-break revolver. A high damage, small clip weapon meant for taking down distant or single targets. You can shoot as fast as you can press Fire, though the faster you shoot, the less accurate it becomes. It has pin-point accuracy if you fire slowly enough. Like most revolvers, it carries only 6 shots. It packs a good punch since it can kill a Pigcop in only 3 shots and Rusty's expertise makes him reload in barely a second. You can dual-wield the weapon, and double your firepower. Both weapons fire at once, and accuracy is lost in a few shots, but the doubled firepower allows for easy dispatch of many foes.

If you press Alt-Fire, you will switch to a different firing method. Rusty will slap the hammer. This allows you to hold Fire and shoot at a stable pace. You can potentially fire quicker with the main mode, but this alternate mode will allow you to shoot at a steady pace without losing accuracy too quickly. You naturally can't use this mode while dual-wielding. The weapon also can pierce body armor but ineffective against heavy armor.

Due to the very nature of this weapon, it is best used against lone enemies, or distant ones. The 6 shots will go quickly against groups and the frequent reload can be a hinderance. You can dispose of both weak and strong non-boss enemies rather quickly but groups will be troublesome. Its power can help against mini-bosses, especially dual-wielded but then you may face another trouble: ammunition. If you don't have Rusty's slot 3 and/or slot 4 weapons quickly, you will most likely have trouble with ammo and this weapon whenever your temporary weapon will run out.

You will gain 6 shots per pick-up and you can hold up to 120 in total.

Upgrades[]

Revolver has one upgrade.

Revolver Accuracy Mod[]

This upgrade reduces the accuracy penalty upon shooting. With less recoil, you will be able to shoot more quickly without missing shots. The alt-fire barely loses accuracy, even on continuous fire. Costs 100 polymers.

Trivia[]

  • In version 1, this weapon's alternate fire had Rusty focus in order to shoot more powerful and accurate shots. If you focused for too long, his artificial heart would explode. This was removed for practicality, and the weapon got a damage increase to compensate.
  • Before version 3, this weapon's upgrade was a semi-auto mode which allowed you to fire potentially more quickly than the default capped rate of fire. It has been replaced by accuracy for practical gameplay reasons.
  • Before version 3, you could obtain R1858 in the Millhaven mission by defeating Doctor Jekyll using only a single unupgraded revolver and holding your fire when he is reloading. This feature, however, was cut due to buggy behavior.
