Background[]
Rippers are these gorilla-looking creatures from the Shadow Realm. They have muscular bodies that possess stripes along them, bright red eyes, and sharp teeth and claws. These beasts are very strong and pretty durable. Rippers are also agile and able to jump at you from a distance or from below. Their only attack method, however, is to get close to their foes and rip them apart with their huge claws. That does significant damage, but, naturally, is limited to close range.
Hitting them with the MIA Gun will grant you Ripper Heart research project. When researched, this will allow agents to use hearts Rippers sometimes drop upon being killed to summon temporary friendly doppelgangers of themselves.
Variant[]
There is a variation, known as the Momma Ripper. They are bigger and tougher than normal Rippers, and their hides are brown (sprite palette 50). Aside from that, they behave exactly like the common Rippers.

The rippers are large and vicious ape-like creatures found throughout Asia. Though clearly not of this normal realm, rippers was a very rare sight until roughly a decade ago, when the population shot through the roof. Speculation links to the increase in other mysterious creatures such as the Goros around that time as well.
It is common belief that Zilla Inc. somehow found a way to summon this foul beasts to battle the famed Shadow Warrior Lo Wang. Orochi Zilla, CEO of the Zilla Inc., is now missing (presumed dead), but that creatures still roam the distant mountain reaches.
A ripper is stronger than a gorilla, and boasts claws more deadly than a tiger's. It's powerful frame can eviscerate a man in a single swipe, and I have personally seen one sustain multiple gunshot wounds and carry on charging. Perhaps most dreadful is the rare Alpha male breed, with it's luxurious brown coat and massive increase in size over the normal types.
Bestiary Information[]
This creature, loosely resembling a large gorilla, is not a native of the terrestrial world. Like the Guardian and Mamano, it comes from the Shadow Realm. Be careful of its claws.

A gruesome discovery; the beating heart of the Ripper can be used to summon a shadow clone of the wielder for a limited period of time.
Trivia[]
There is a book named "Strange and Mystical Creatures" that can be found in the New L.A. hub level on the Moon. This book contain some lore about the Rippers and other creatures.
