Saiga Update

A semi-automatic 12-gauge shotgun; a reliable weapon with a magazine of 8 rounds, giving it a fast reload as well.

  • Cannot use alternate shotgun ammo.

ALT-FIRE: Toggle Sight.

Gameplay[]

This weapon is semi-auto, therefore you can shoot as fast as you can press Fire. The weapon is quite accurate, especially if you crouch and don't move, but firing too fast will give you accuracy penalties. Since it makes use of box magazines, it has a reloading time of barely 1 full second, quite fast for a shotgun. It can hold 8 shells, which can go quite fast with the semi-auto fire but the swift reload compensates.

As a shotgun, it cannot pierce any defence, you will thus have to rely on head shots against enemies in body armour and it will deal highly reduced damage to heavy armour. Also it cannot use alternate shotgun shells.

Compared to the default 870, you will favor rate of fire and reloading time while sacrificing accuracy and versatility. It is slightly less accurate than the 870 but it remains fairly capable against semi-distant targets. The 8 round capacity is the same as that of the fully loaded and upgraded 870 which can save you 250 credits. Thanks to its rate of fire and swift reload, this weapon is more reliable against groups or crowds of enemies than the Highwire's default shotgun. It's a way better weapon for running and gunning. But since you cannot use any alternate shells, you will have to rely on other weapons if you face heavily armoured enemies for instance. Also the low ammo capacity can both force you to use the weapon more in order not to waste ammo given in the level and have you run out of ammo fairly quickly.

You will gain 10 shots per pick-up and you can hold up to 50 in total.

Location[]

Saiga-12 can be bought from the Shopkeeper if you rescued Matvei in the Revolution level.
