Background[]
Sorcerers are higher ranked cultists who have learned to use dark magic, lost their humanity in process and became undead. They look like flying, spellcasting faceless humanoids with glowing red eyes, wearing robes and hoods.
With their otherworldly powers, they can throw magical projectiles at you or push you away with telekinesis when close (you'll need a spirit shield to protect yourself from their attacks). Although sorcerers aren't really fast, the abilities to fly and teleport grants them a high level of mobility. Also, they can pursue their targets by teleporting to their location, meaning that you cannot hide from these guys.
Sorcerers have supernatural protection and thus receive highly reduced damage from normal weapons (and on Expert difficulty or higher they can't be damaged by conventional weapons at all). They are vulnerable however to silver bullets or bolts, magic, and energy weapons. When killed, they explode, and their remains quickly dissolve, leaving only blue ectoplasm on the floor.
Using MIA Gun on the sorcerer unlocks Mind Shield 2 research project.
They can be found in Millhaven, Providence, Far Mountain, Forgotten Tomb.
Variants[]
There is a sorcerers' variant that appears on Elysion, known as wizards. They look somewhat different but behave like regular sorcerers.
Bestiary Information[]
A humanoid entity that can teleport at will, and fires magical blasts out of its palm. Conventional weaponry isn't effective; you'll need to use weapons with either silver ammo, energy, or magic itself to hurt it properly.
MIA Description[]
Autopsies kept providing varying results; sometimes this thing was once a human, other times it seems to be something else entirely. The blue 'blood' is even more confusing.
Trivia[]
- Sang can summon friendly sorcerers with the alternate mode of his Spellbook.
- Killing sorcerer with Sang's Spellbook causes it to drop additional pages for the Spellbook's summoning spell.
- This enemy was probably inspired by disciples of D'Sparil from Heretic and dark bishops from Hexen.
