An Austrian bullpup assault rifle with a 30-round magazine and an attached scope. It fires dedicated armour-piercing ammunition.

Gameplay

Steyr AUG is an assault rifle that fires armour piercing rounds. These rounds, while not very powerful, deals double damage to heavy armoured and robotic opponents, but only quarter damage to chitin ones. This weapon has high rate of fire and great first shot accuracy, but firing in full-auto making it inaccurate after multiple shots and it depletes its 30 round magazines fairly quickly (upgrades fix these disadvantages to a certain extent). AUG is also relatively light for an assault rifle.

The rifle's scope can be used with Alt-fire, which helps against distant enemies. The recoil will be lowered and rate of fire will decrease for better stability. Also, like with other scoped weapons, you can hold down Sprint key to slow down time which is handy for adjusting your aim or hitting fast targets.

Unupgraded AUG is good against heavy armoured or robotic opponents. However, compared to other James' slot 8 guns, it deals less damage, and its reload time is longer. Thus, the upgrades are very beneficial for this weapon, while not very expensive. Once fully upgraded, it becomes a reliable and quite versatile AP rifle/LMG hybrid with long effective range.

Upgrades

There are two upgrades for the Steyr AUG.

AUG Extended magazine

Increases the gun's mag capacity to 100 rounds. Costs 250 polymers.

AUG Improved Grip

Decreases the gun's accuracy drop when firing in full-auto. Costs 50 polymers. You need to complete Offshore Oil-rig level first.
