Loadout description

A .45 calibre submachine gun with a holotech sight and a 25-round magazine. This gun have some mean firepower, but recoil is quite hard to control at times.

Gameplay

This weapon is a .45 submachine gun. Like other .45 calibre SMGs, UMP45 possesses a decent stopping power per bullet, but despite its high damage potential, it has the lowest rate of fire out of all James' slot 4 weapons. It is also hampered by relatively poor accuracy without zoom and heavy recoil. Thus, it is best used in short to medium range engagements. And its magazine 25 round capacity is relatively low, so frequent reloads can be a hindrance. It's bullets are effective against soft or chitin targets, but deal poor damage to enemies in body armour, so you'll have to rely on head shots. And, of course, it cannot pierce heavy or robot armour and supernatural protection with standard ammunition.

However, with Alt-fire, you will use its attached holographic sight, which gives you a small zoom, the recoil is lowered significantly and accuracy is increased. This makes UMP45 useful even at long range when fired in short controlled bursts.

Additionally, the UMP45 can accept silver bullets that can pierce body armour and grants it the ability to harm supernatural enemies, and incendiary bullets, which can pierce body armour too and deal extra damage to chitin and ice enemies.

Location

UMP45 can be found in the Dark Truths, not far away from the level end. In a tunnel just behind the yellow door there are green crates behind the fence. Atop one of these crates, you can find a briefcase with this weapon.
