Who Goes There? is the first mandatory story mission in Episode 5.
Mission Summary[]
The AMC Squad must recover a Beyonder's corpse from this deserted outpost at any cost.
Gameplay[]
Who Goes There?[]
When you come to a settlement, head to the cave on the right. Inside you'll find a keycard next to a corpse. Head back out and go to the blue base building. Use the key on the door down the hall. One of the rooms contains another key. This will be used on the large metal gate outside.
Head down the hill. There is a nearby tool shed that contains a blue plug key. Afterwards, go into the red building and look for the basement. Use the key to open the basement doors. This will lead you to a switch and a security monitor. This switch opens the access to the tunnel to caves below outside.
The Mountains of Madness[]
Head down the tunnels until you reach a more open cavern with scaffolding. You'll stumble upon flamethrowers - take it. Go right. Be careful not to fall. You will reach another wide cave with some some boxes. Head to the right and look for a smallish opening leading to another network of caves and eventually some rock platforms with lamps. At the very end you will find a corpse and a Gas Mask. Backtrack to the cave with the scaffolding and continue to proceed deeper, past the gas leak. Eventually you will find a large dark cave with many spirits staring at you. At the bottom is a small tunnel. Follow it to the transformed cavern with the corpse of the Beyonder and a nuke. Take the Beyonder's corpse and get your flamethrower ready - the corpses will turn into Beyond Things. And to make things worse, you will have 3 minutes to get back to the surface, so run like hell.
See Hear Speak No Evil[]
Back at the surface, no other than the EDF will suddenly attack you. Pick up some supples and quickly fight your way back to the AMC Transport before the nuke goes off.
Finishing this mission will take you to Judgement.
Secrets[]
There are 6 secrets in The Mountain of Madness:
- In the second staging area, there's a cave just to the left of the tunnel path. You will need to leap over the ledge to reach it. You will find a H-Item.
- When you reach the scaffolding, there's a path on the left. It will lead to a gold amulet.
- In the cave network with blue boxes, one of the walls is semi-transparent. Inside the cave is Dragon Shells for shotgun.
- In the platforming area, one of the lit plaforms with 3 sectors on the right has a ledge you can leap to get an amulet on the side.
- When you reach the large dark cavern, at the bottom, you can leap to another ledge around the bottom of the stairs to find a slot 5 weapon.
- The last bit of scaffolding before the bomb has a small hole on the lower right leading to an armour.
