Yo is a demonic entity who is confined to this blade; killing enemies will charge the blade's power, unleashing a deadly attack.

Yo's fully charged

Gameplay

Yo behaves similar to Katana at first, slicing and dicing enemies up close. However when an enemy is killed with Yo, he will start gaining power. Once he is fully charged (which you can tell when Kagura's HUD has a glowing purple outline) he will unleash a powerful sword blast on the next swing. The sword blast can deal a lot of damage when it hits an enemy or boss. Yo can also charge up by collecting small red masks that can be scattered throughout the level (they're in place for slot 2 ammo). Picking up 5 masks will fully charge him. Secondary fire will block some enemies' melee attacks (much like the Katana), while the Tertiary fire/Reload throws shurikens. Yo can damage all enemy types, although the shurikens cannot harm enemies with heavy armour or supernatural protection and robots resist shurikens.
